BLOG ASSIGNMENT #7

Listen to your chosen piece of music to discover any examples of how the music “paints” the meaning of the words.

I choose a different kind of music because I didn’t find any word painting in it. The song is you raise me high. Below is the link.

The entire song has alot of Music word relationship from the start to end and it has a both homophonic and monophonic texture. It starts ‘when I’m down and oh my soul so weary’, the music is played in a low note to indicate how down he is and it exactly matches what he is singing and the low pitch of the instruments playing on the ground.

The second stanza starts by pitch going higher and higher as he sings ‘ you raise me up ,so I can stand on mountains’,with the instruments also raising their pitches higher. As an additional proof you can see him moving his hands up as he sings. Also the violin sounds the same as the singer which makes it working perfect.
